Staff Employment Status

At Chroma, employees are perceived to be a key Company asset. We have made serious efforts to maintain gender equality in the form of equal employment opportunities as prescribed in the Constitution and the Act of Gender Equality in Employment on human rights. This includes efforts to facilitate diversity, inclusiveness and equal opportunities in employee recruitment. We do this by ensuring that factors such as gender differences, race, socio economic status, age, marital status, family status, language, religion, political affiliation, nationality, physical appearance or physical or mental disability do not lead to discriminatory treatment involving language, attitude or behavior by Chroma personnel. There were no reports of incidents of discrimination in 2019.

Chroma had a total of 1731 employees on its payroll at the end of 2019. Given that the electronics sector’s characteristics are strongly oriented towards R&D and technology, our employee profile shows a significant discrepancy in terms of the male to female ratio. Male employees totaled 1394 (80.53%) against 337 female (19.47%). The average age of our employees is 36.91 years old, with average work seniority of 7.57 years. The above statistics are based on regular full-time employment.

We have endeavored to hire and retain outstanding management talent and our senior management includes divisional VPs and high-ranking supervisors, the BU President, VPs of various centers and the President of the Company. All of our senior managers are native citizens of Taiwan and the 19 members of top management make up 1.09% of Chroma employees. Chroma has 410 employees holding managerial positions accounting for 23.69% of Company employees. The ratio of female managers has shown a slight increase from 14.36% in 2017 to 17.80% in 2019. This increase reflects that gender difference does not play a role in the promotion and appointment of managers at Chroma.

The Chroma workforce is diversified. In addition to native citizens of Taiwan (ROC), there are workers from Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand. In 2019, we also have employees from the Netherlands, India and the Solomon Islands. This is adequate evidence of Chroma’s attempt to diversify employee recruitment. Foreign workers are entitled to all the same benefits and perks enjoyed by their local colleagues and there is no differentiation in benefits due to nationality.

In addition, we support the government reservation and provision policy that ensures employment opportunities for applicants with disabilities, while promoting a friendly and innovative workplace. In 2019, eleven physically disabled individuals were hired and assigned to departments where they could fully leverage their talent and contribute to society in their own ways. We continue to evaluate and assess positions that might be suitable for applicants with disabilities to provide more employment opportunities for them.
